| | come on people you kno im listening to the chemical brothers | ] | THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
There have been few groups who have shaped the brand and style of music that is played. There have been even fewer Djing groups that have cultivated the sound of today's music. One such group is The Chemical Brothers. Their outrageous hip-hop beats and mellow psychedelic melodies have rocked dance floors all over the world for decades. Their messages of love and peace have come out of the amplifiers loud and clear. Every single song produced by these two wizards of the synthesizer has a clear and defined message. Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands first met in 1989 while studying history at the Manchester Poly Technical school. They immediately tore the rave and club scene to shreds. They had a distinct sound, including acid house, hip hop and rock, which most of the DJ's of that time feared to go. Their first release came in 1992 named "Song to the Siren" which was made in Tom's bedroom with nothing more than a Hitachi hi-fi, Sampler, Computer, DAT machine, and a keyboard. There second single released was titled "Chemical Beats". This was a revolutionary song in the world of Djing. It used loops from the 1966 Beatles release "Tomorrow Never Knows" and pinned it with tribal breaks. The music that is most often associated with DJ's and techno is repetitive hardcore beats and bass. The Chemical Brothers, however seem to have transcended this notion. It is their ability to create spellbinding rhythms and psychedelic trips that has made them so successful over the years. "We liked the idea of giving into something and it taking you somewhere else," explains Tom. "We're fairly obsessed with music that takes you out of yourself." The Brothers are masters at giving meanings to all there songs. They used to send home dancers from London clubs with the lyrics of John Lennon ringing in their heads, "Love is all, Love is all." Masterful guitar parts played by Tom himself in "The Setting of the Sun" are exactly what The Chemical Brothers are all about, rolling rhythms and day-glo beats. For the past ten years Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have done more then just, play the music. They have created memories and dreams using careful precision and determined knowledge. They are masters of their art and are truly the greatest DJ's that have ever lived. |

| Red Sox Celebration both Unnecessary and Uncalled For |

| | The Ramones | ] | Last night the Red Sox clinched a spot in the playoffs for the second straight year. This of course is good news, but the celebration afterwards was immature and unnecessary. The nature of the celebration was atrocious, and also the way the carried on with it for such an extended time was just plain stupid. First of all, the Red Sox have only clinched the American League Wild Card, which is something to be happy about but not to celebrate at such a length. They have not yet accomplished anything meaningful. The Sox need to save that kind of celebration for the World Series. Also, the way the Red Sox carried on was disgraceful. They poured champagne on each others heads, like normal, but then started pouring beer and soap once the champagne ran out. The chamapagne running out sohuld have been a little clue for the Red Sox that they should stop. Last nights display was simply disgraceful. I was embaressed to be a Red Sox fan and i hope they revise their acts in the future. |
